ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME JAM
Warning: Video contains NSFW language.
If you’ve watched any MattV2099 torture test videos, you know guns can maintain function through just about anything. Submerged under water? No problem. Baked in a cake? Delicious. Wrapped in rubber bands? Bring it on! However, as we recently found out, there’s one thing that will stop a gun cold—bees. During a training course, a man’s AR suddenly stopped firing. After attempting every method of clearing, he was instructed to break down the gun. Once open, he discovered a bee had flown into his chamber during a reload, causing his rifle to jam. Now if that’s not the weirdest malfunction we’ve ever heard, we don’t know what is. (via OutdoorHub).

HOW TO MAKE A PROFIT
Mark Serbu, of Serbu Firearms, is one of the most innovative men in the firearms industry. From a single-shot .50 rifle to a super-shorty shotgun, Mark always stretches the limits of firearm design and function as we know them. His latest creation, though, is something we can all build (or so he intends). Named the GB-22, or Gun Buyback .22, the pistol consists of just four parts that can be relatively easily assembled. The purpose of the project? To clog the system and make a profit. With seemingly more gun buyback initiatives popping up across the country promising up to $250 for each gun, Mark took it upon himself to revive an old project and release it to the masses. And with kits costing possibly as little as $40, that’s an easy $200 in your pocket! Check out the GB-22 test firing in a video from The NFA Review Channel. (via Guns.com)

COLORING FOR ADULTS
Remember the joy of coloring books and the hours spent trying to decide if Superman’s cape should be red orange or orange red? You may not be five-years-old anymore, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy the calming activity of coloring. Thanks to the NRA, there’s now an adult coloring book just for you! Appropriately titled “Full Metal Coloring: A Book of Down Range Reflection,” the 70-page book contains dozens of action-packed, patriotic and firearm related designs, including favorites like the UZI, M9 and M1 Garand. Adult coloring books are nothing new, but this is the first gun-related activity book we’ve seen. Order your copy—crayons, markers and colored pencils not included—from the NRA Store or Amazon for just $9.99 and get coloring! (via Guns.com)

GONE GLOCK-FISHING
Despite the lionfish being native to the Indo-Pacific, the “feral pigs of ocean reefs” have found their way to the United States and Atlantic waters over the course of the past two decades. An invasive species, lionfish eat native fish and can have a quick negative impact on a reef habitat. To reduce the population of the predatory fish, environmental organizations and both commercial and recreational divers alike have come together to ramp up harvesting efforts along the southern United States. Traditionally hunted with spears and hand-held nets, one group has made a bang by bringing their pistols, complete with custom suppressors, underwater for some good ol’ Glock-fishing. (via OutdoorHub)

A TRUE GLOCK-ENSPIEL
Making music with guns is nothing new, in fact, we covered it in a previous Social Media Reload, but there’s just something about using gun power and brass to make melodies that we love. In this video, Russian IPSC shooter Vitaly Kryuchin joins The Shooting Star Band for a true GLOCK-enspiel musical, performing classic hits like “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” on metal targets at the range. Like a life-size glockenspiel, the different plates are designed to produce specific notes, enabling songs to be played. Why wasn’t this an instrument offered in middle school band class? PLAYING SPORTS WITH GUNS
Shooting sports is one thing, then there are sports with guns. Matt of Demolition Ranch  teamed up with YouTubers Alex Mandel and Andrea Wendel to take regular sports to the next level in their latest videos. Watch Matt and his wife team up against Alex and Andrea in a friendly game of billiards and bullets, or bulliards. Then, laugh as the A-Team attempt to hit tennis balls launched from an X Products Can Cannon while trying to not to get hit themselves. And wait until you see what the racket looks like afterward. We don’t recommend playing these games at home, but they sure do look like fun!

DELIVERING A MESSAGE
In last week’s Social Media Reload we discussed the fallout of the Bowmar’s bear hunt that resulted in public backlash and ultimately Under Armour ending their contract with Sarah. This week, bowhunter Tim Wells of The Sportsman Channel show Relentless Pursuit released video of his own bear spear hunt with a clear message for those who question or oppose the act. As seen in the self-filmed video, Tim takes aim from above, passing on one black bear before a larger target takes the bait. The spear, with a Go Pro attached, shlocks the bear straight through for a quick and humane kill. In the end, Tim gets his monster while providing funding for conservation efforts. YOUTUBE TAKES AIM
After a video from YouTuber Philip DeFranco earlier this week, creators and fans took up arms over the platform’s demonetization of videos, most by some of platform’s biggest channels. According to a statement from YouTube, while their “policy of demonetizing videos due to advertiser-friendly concerns hasn’t changed, [they’ve] recently improved the notification and appeal process to ensure better communication.” However, by improving that process, YouTube revealed new details that has left many creators feeling angry, frustrated and concerned. For more, read a thoughtful take on the news from one of our favorite YouTubers, TWANGnBANG.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF FLASH
Fall is almost here and that means hunting and trail-camera season is just around the corner. However, it appears hunters will have more to worry about this season than whether or not they can fill their tags. The ATF released a public service advisory this week warning Kentucky hunters of “improvised explosive devices (IEDs) being hidden inside trail cameras, which exploded and injured people.” Some of the cameras were designed to explode when batteries were inserted while others were boobytrapped with trip wire. The ATF cautions people not to handle trail cameras, as well as hunting stands, they did not place themselves. Stay safe out there this hunting season. (via OutdoorHub)

BULLET CHAIN REACTION
Is it possible for one round of ammunition to set off a chain reaction of other rounds? That’s the question YouTuber TAOFLEDERMAUS set out to answer in his latest video. Lining up 10 rounds of 5.56 ammo in a tube at the end of a BB gun, the experiment would test if a pellet could strike the primer with enough force to set off the bullet, causing it to strike the primer of the bullet in front of it, setting off that bullet and creating a chain reaction. Despite our doubts before watching and thousands of commenters claims that it would not work for various reasons from 5.56 primers being too hard or needing a gap between rounds, TAOFLEDERMAUS proves everyone wrong with some impressive results. Unfortunately, the high speed camera was unable to pick up much of the chain reaction. (via Guns.com)

HUNTERS TURN ON UNDER ARMOUR
While still behind Nike in sales, Under Armour has recently flexed its way to the top thanks to key athlete endorsements and the growth of its hunting apparel line, among others. However, the athletic brand may have put a chink in its own armor after ending its contract with fitness star and huntress Sarah Bowmar in the wake of public outrage over a legal spear kill of a bear by her and her husband, Josh. Since being cut, the couple has received support from the hunting community, which even started a petition to “bring back the Bowmars.” Under Armour has not commented on the release, but we wouldn’t be surprised if hunting sales slip just in time for hunting season. BUILD YOUR OWN ASSAULT RIFLE
In response to the recent Massachusetts assault rifle ban, one man decided to create an instructional video for how to build your own. First, find a generic rifle—like a Remington 597—then get rid all of the stupid safeties. Next, add a collapsible PVC pipe buttstock, compact drill pistol grip, Walmart mouthwash scope, and kitchen knife bayonets. (It’s important you have both a smooth and serrated bayonet.) Finally, you’ll need ammunition in the form of a Vogue magazine and multiple caribiner clips. The end result? A pretty bad ass assault rifle that laughs in the face of yet another state’s attempt to infringe upon the Second Amendment. (via Guns.com)

DeerTailgate
EVERY SEASON IS DEER SEASON
Nothing is better than the feeling of coming home from a day in the woods after a successful fall deer hunt. Unfortunately, every season can’t be deer season, but now there is a way to relive that feeling every day year-round with a custom, vinyl tailgate wrap. Shared on Facebook by Sandys Custom Auto based in Jacksboro, Tennessee last month, the photo has since been shared by more than 60,000 jealous, truck-owning deer hunters. And at just $89 plus shipping, we can’t wait to get ours! (via Outdoor Hub)

SB-15 BRACE CONFUSION
Since 2013, the SB-15 brace has been the subject of back and forth confusion between firearm owners and the FTB (aka FTISB, aka FATD). In the latest episode of The Gun Collective‘s “The Legal Brief,” attorney Adam Kraut attempts to tackle the question everyone has been asking since the 2015 SHOT Show: Can you legally shoulder a SB-15 brace? Though lengthy and full of legal jargon, the video does a great job laying out a path littered with government inconsistencies—the biggest being what is the intent of the firearm. If a firearm is designed or made with a SB-15 brace and the intent is to shoulder said brace, then the implied answer is ‘no.’ However, even Adam cannot give a definitive answer, which just goes to show how little progress has been made on the matter in the past three years.

SHOTGUN GOLF
With the Open Champsionship going on now across the pond, this seemed like perfect fodder for this week’s Reload. Pairing PGA pro golfer Cody Gribble with two-time Olympic gold medalist skeet shooter Vincent Hancock, Golf Digest captured an atypical day at the range. Armed with a club and a shotgun, respectively, the two professionals took turns chipping golf balls into the air while the other pumped them into tiny pieces. To no one’s surprise, neither was particularly good at the other’s craft but both appeared to have a great time regardless. Check out Part 2 for a friendly head-to-head competition. ONE IN A BILLION
They say it’s a “one in a billion” shot. That’s how officials are describing the bullet from off-duty Colorado Deputy Jose Marquez that traveled straight down the barrel of an attempted robbery suspect’s Springfield pistol, disabling it. The photo has been circulating the internet since local 9News broke the story—and rightfully so. This is a shot Mythbusters couldn’t even reproduce if they wanted to, let alone during the heat of a fire fight. Unfortunately, Marquez did not escape the botched robbery without injury, he was shot multiple times in the abdomen and is currently recovering. (via FishGame.com)

POKÉMON GO (OR DON’T)
Unless you live under a rock, by now you’ve heard of the new mobile game sweeping the world, Pokémon GO. (If not, here’s a brief explanation in less than 400 words.) In just one week’s time, the game is more popular than Netflix, Twitter and Tinder and has millions of “trainers” outside and on their phones wandering from PokéStop to PokéStop in an attempt to catch ’em all. But, as to be expected, not everyone has jumped on the bandwagon. Michael Pitts of Michael Pitts Outdoors is one of those party poopers and has something to say about that “Pokeyman guy.” (via Outdoor Overload)

GUN VERSUS BOW
It’s one of the many great debates among outdoorsmen: which is better, guns or bows? Both have their distinct uses and advantages, but how would a fully fitted out target bow fair against an iron sighted .44 magnum at various distances up to 100 yards? That’s where ArcheryTalk‘s Lucas Cooney and Demolition Ranch‘s Matt Carriker come in for a friendly competition video. With the wind blowing and the distance increasing each round, the contest gets more difficult for each, but in the end Matt and his hand canon prove no match for Lucas’ bow—except for when Matt cheats and breaks out his AR-15, because of course he did.

FROM FIELD TO TABLE
Best known for his angry tirades on various competitive cooking shows, chef Gordon Ramsey recently found himself outside his element hog hunting in the Fort Benning woods of Georgia while filming for “The F Word.” After practicing his rifle and pistol marksmanship with a military instructor, the two headed into the woods the next morning with camera crew in hopes of shooting a hog. But, as all hunters can attest to, the hunt didn’t go as planned. However, in the end, Ramsey was still able to take a hog, butcher it and cook a gourmet BBQ meal for local soldiers. (via OutdoorHub)

WORLD’S LARGEST NERF GUN
For many young boys who grew up after 1969, the first gun they ever picked up was likely not a Remington or Mossberg, but a NERF. Dart and water blasters have come a long way in the last 45 years but there’s never been a NERF gun quite like this! Behind the “World’s Largest NERF Gun” is YouTuber and former NASA engineer, Mark Rober, and YouTube duo Ryan and David of Eclectical Engineering. Together, the three-man team built the monster blaster, capable of firing pool-noodle-toilet-plunger darts more than 30 yards using compressed air, which can also be switched out for black powder. Check out the video above as well as destructive behind-the-scenes testing of the NERF gun in action. (via OutdoorHub)

PUT YOUR NOSE INTO IT
“The recoil bruised my shoulder, which can happen if you don’t know what you’re doing.” Those now infamous words were written by New York Daily News writer Gersh Kuntzman after his “PTSD-inducing” AR-15 experience in the aftermath of the recent Orlando shooting. There’s been plenty said by the firearms community about the piece (and its follow up), but nothing seemed to capture the absurdity of Kuntzman’s article better than this video rebuttal by a man firing an AR-15 off the tip of his nose. If Kuntzman bruised his shoulder when shooting, surely this man would break his nose, right? One empty magazine later, his nose was, as expected, “not broken, not bleeding, not bruised.” #MythBusted (via OutdoorHub)

RescueAR15.jpg

THE FIRST RESPONDER’S AR-15
One of the many reasons for the AR-15’s popularity is its versatility and the ability to custom build a weapon that fulfills your specific needs as a firearm owner. Filed in 2014, the U.S. Patent Office recently released a patent for the “Firearm-Mounted Rescue Tool.” Instead of a typical AR-style stock, the rifle stock is interchangeable with different tools—such as an axe and crowbar—that will aid emergency first-responders, law enforcement personnel and military personnel in entering buildings. After two years of waiting the patent has finally been filed, but founders Tracey Copeland and Andrew BeGole are in no rush to market. According to Copeland, “the idea behind it was to see if it [was] feasible.” (via Guns.com)

A MOVIE BY VETS, FOR VETS
“Vile, over-the-top violent, perverted and unnecessarily graphic … If you’re a veteran, it’s awesome. If you aren’t, you may leave the theater shocked and confused.” That’s how one Facebook user described the new “Range 15” movie that raised more than $1.1 million on Indiegogo last summer and cost $7 million more to make. Featuring the guys of Ranger Up and Article 15 Clothing, Hollywood’s William Shatner, Danny Trejo and Sean Astin, two Medal of Honor recipients, MMA icons Randy Couture, Brian Stann and Tim Kennedy and “Lone Survivor” Marcus Luttrell, it’s no surprise the film has received rave reviews from veterans, sold $500,000 in advance tickets and is likely already sold out in your area. The critics are still out on the movie, but if social media comments and the 97% Audience Score on Rotten Tomatoes mean anything to you, this is a must-see movie of the year! (via ArmyTimes.com)

DON’T MESS WITH NATE
If you’ve ever been in the business of selling or providing goods and services to consumers, you’ve surely heard and SMH’d at the notion that “the customer is always right.” The truth is, it’s just not true and sometimes you wish you could give the customer a taste of their own medicine. But for all the times you thought about doing it, Nate of Omega Holsters made up for it after receiving an email from an interested, but penny-pinching customer. Instead of sending him a skillfully hand-crafted holster, Nate sent the customer everything he would need to do it himself and recorded it all. Since uploading the videos to the company Facebook page, the video has racked up more than 400,000 views.

WILL YOU MARRY ME?
Perhaps more difficult than actually popping the question is deciding how to do it. From the ballpark to custom-built Mario Maker levels, the options are endless. But for competitive shooter Ryan Davis, he decided to keep it to what he knows best and designed a match stage with flip-up cardboard targets that strategically spelled out the big question. The reaction by his onlooking now-fiancee, Savanna, captured on video is priceless—and of course, she said yes! The newly engaged couple even got a shout out from the USPSA on Facebook; “you never know what will happen at a USPSA match!”

THE GRAMMAR COMMANDO
Unlike the internet “Grammar Nazi” that comes out of the woodwork to ridicule you for misspelling a word or poor punctuation, the Grammar Commando—aka Hickok45—is here to help. A retired English teacher, Hickok knows his way around a sentence like he does a gun. And while he is seen holstering a gun, you won’t see any 2-liters or gongs in this video lesson as Hickok teaches us about the importance of irregular verbs and how to use them correctly. While this not a typical video, it’s the same old lovable Hickok trying to learn us something new. Watch his most recent gun video shooting lead with the Tactical Edge Warfighter 10.
