LaserLyte Trainer Trigger Tyme for a First Tyme Shooter

DSC01573

It was a sunny Saturday morning in mid-August and my Father and I were at a local shooting range. My Dad had not shot a firearm in decades; it would be my first time. I had just accepted a job with Laura Burgess Marketing and figured I should know a little about the industry I was working in before I started. Fast forward four hours and we left the range with NRA FIRST Steps Pistol course certificates and paper plate targets marked with three-inch groupings to prove it. After that morning, I knew I wanted to own a gun.

However, as a young adult who works remotely, I still live with my parents. Part of that arrangement is not having a gun in the house. It’s not that my parents are against guns, they’re just not the type of people to own them.

A couple months go by and while my list of potential first purchases has grown, I remain at home with my parents. I’m eager to train and practice shooting, but I don’t own a gun. That’s when I remember a client we work with who has the perfect solution for beginners like me. Enter, LaserLyte®.

A leader in laser technology for more than 25 years, LaserLyte® is headed by the father-son team of Larry and Aaron Moore and manufactures laser sights for firearms, as well as innovative training guns and interactive targets. I contact Aaron, explaining my newly found passion and unique situation, and he gratefully agrees to send me product for testing and evaluation.

A week later a box arrives at my doorstep with the total training package, including compact and full size Trainer Trigger Tyme® Laser pistols, Laser Trainer Target, two Reaction Tyme® Targets and three Trainer Target Plinking Cans. I hardly know where to begin.

Upon unboxing, the first thing you’ll notice about LaserLyte® products is their simplicity. Besides a few batteries (which are included), there’s little to no assembly required and the targets can either be stood on a flat surface or hung on a wall by way of push pins or nails. The blue Trainer Trigger Tyme® Laser pistols have built-in lasers with vertical and horizontal adjustments and while lightweight, do a good job mimicking the actual size and feel of a real handgun from the grip to the trigger pull.

I decide to hang both the Laser Trainer Target and Reaction Tyme® Targets on my bedroom wall with the Trainer Target Plinking Cans on a table nearby and position myself across the room about eight yards away. This is my first time holding, for all intents and purposes, a gun since that August morning at the range, but I quickly remember proper grip, stance and safety principles and take ten shots at each target, scoring multiple bullseye and knocking over each can. I would repeat this dozens of times that night and even get my parents involved. My mom was hesitant at first, but with some coaching and practice, had a gun in her hand and a smile on her face.

Over the course of the past few months, I have repeated this drill daily, practicing accuracy, grouping, speed and trigger control. I’ve also experimented with different locations around the house, from shooting down the hall to up the stairs, as well as various body positions, including standing, kneeling and lying down. I understand I may not be handling and shooting a real gun with real bullets, experiencing real recoil in real situations, but I know my training has made me a better, more confident and safer shooter that will pay off when I inevitably make my first purchase.

LaserLyte® develops products that provide a safe, affordable and enjoyable solution to firearms training for shooters of all ages and experience levels. Whether you’re a first time shooter, like myself, a parent interested in teaching your child about guns, or a long-time gun owner looking for more time behind the trigger, LaserLyte® can be for you, and their line of sights, trainers and kits are only expanding.

LaserLyte, an American, Family-Built Success Story

LaserLyte® is a brand synonymous with leading-edge firearms laser systems.

Aaron and Larry Moore of LaserLyte

Aaron and Larry Moore of LaserLyte

Founded twenty-seven years ago by Larry Moore, a firearms enthusiast and entrepreneur, LaserLyte has grown significantly in the last several years. Although, Larry is credited for starting the company, building a solid brand and exception products and forming long-term relationships within their sales channel, it wasn’t until the younger Moore entered the picture that the LaserLyte brand took off into unchartered waters.

Aaron Moore is LaserLyte’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the company. Aaron did not grow up thinking that he would necessarily become part of his father’s company. Instead, Aaron’s educational course took him to earn degrees and certificates in Mechanical Engineering, International Business, Japanese and Middle Eastern Studies at five universities in three countries. During his college years, Aaron worked within LaseLyte’s sales department while completing his MBA in International Studies. It was during this time that the elder Moore had the opportunity to watch his progeny take on challenges and succeed. Larry offered his son a place in the company where Aaron’s experience would grow and his talents soar.

Unlike so many of the other firearms laser companies that move between audiences, from law enforcement to personal defense, to beginner shooters to hunters, LaserLyte’s main focus has been as sharp as one of its own lasers: the average firearms owner. With Larry designing innovative laser systems for a wide variety of firearms and Aaron renewing old friendships within the sales channel, as well as developing new relationships with other manufacturers, LaserLyte was about to make laser innovation look like child’s play.

TAU G2 LA-webLaserLyte’s firearms laser systems are developed with the gun manufacturers’ engineers and product managers to create lasers that not only fit flawlessly, but offer the features and price point that exceeds what the competition offers. Gun companies, in turn, offer their customers unique packages consisting of their most popular firearms fitted with a LaserLyte laser system specific to that model and audience. It’s a win-win situation for everyone; LaserLyte wins by producing gun lasers that fit and function seamlessly on a given model and the gun manufacturer wins by offering value-added models with LaserLyte lasers, and the customer wins either way!

PB-3_on_Glock_webBesides his sales and marketing responsibilities, Aaron has spearheaded some of the most talked-about products ever produced by LaserLyte. One of the most unusual was the pistol bayonet. This unique item designed to fit on a pistol’s integral rail was developed in conjunction with KABAR knives and may have elicited a few WTF’s but became a huge success for the company, both in extending the brand and in sales.

With the increase in personal protection and training, LaserLyte took their gun lasers one step further and created a variety of compact, laser responsive target systems for customers to safely practice aim, establish muscle memory LL_TLB-BWCor just plain have fun, anywhere. With the advent of their Trigger Tyme training blue guns that have the heft and trigger pull of a real gun but cannot accept ammunition, training kits quickly flew off the shelves and into thousands of homes. Law Enforcement officers have also embraced the portability and affordability of LaserLyte’s many laser training kits. But as serious as firearms training can be, LaserLyte still likes to add the fun element. Their laser plinking can set was a modern take on the classic pistol firing drill with empty cans. But unlike using real cans, the laser plinking can set can be used by young and old and at home, office or anywhere out of bright sunlight.

The future of laser technology as seen by LaserLyte is bright green. LaserLyte anticipates having new, smaller green lasers in similar configurations to their current red gun lasers. The challenge they face is within the battery. Battery development is behind in producing more powerful batteries in smaller packages. Aaron also sees a growing trend in laser accessorizing for the younger gun owner market. The younger set accessorizes to differentiate their personal firearm from their parent’s generation or the guy beside them on the firing range. Aaron and Larry Moore are already deep into developing the next generation of serious laser training systems and seriously fun laser accessories.

“Most family members of fallen officers cannot always travel across the country to Washington DC to participate in the Police Week activities,” said Chief Jody Fanning of the Cottonwood PD. “We hope our monument here in Cottonwood, which will represent all fallen officers, will give those family members a chance to reflect on the sacrifices made by their loved ones.”

The Cottonwood AZ PD statue depicts an Arizona officer holding a folded flag in respectful reflection while looking over the Cottonwood community. The lifelike statue also features a patented LaserLyte® laser rear sight on his duty pistol.

LaserLyte-RTB-GL“It is our privilege to give back to our community and especially to the Cottonwood Police Department. They put their lives on the line every day for us and this is the least we can do to show our appreciation,” commented Aaron Moore, Vice President of LaserLyte®.

Since 1988, LaserLyte® has been designing, manufacturing and marketing personal laser systems for hunters, sport shooters, personal defense and law enforcement. LaserLyte’s exponential growth over the past few years has led the company to expand their facility and continue to hire local talent.

LaserLyte® Laser Bore Sight Systems Still Lead the Way in Advanced Laser Technology 25 Years Later

LaserLyte® Founder, Larry Moore, revolutionized bore alignment with

the first laser bore alignment kit

LaserLyte®, innovators of firearms laser technology, celebrates 25 years of laser innovation from the invention of the first laser bore sighting system to the latest LaserLyte® cartridge laser bore tools. LaserLyte® founder, Larry Moore started back in 1987 with a small company later known as Tac Star Industries, Inc. Under the Tac Star banner, Moore sold gun accessories and designed and produced new products, including the first “laser bore sighter” on the market.

LaserLyte First Bore Sight Alignment kit

LaserLyte First Bore Sight Alignment kit

Ever the “inventor”, Larry took the latest in laser technology and combined his new passion with the time consuming and expensive task of bore sight alignment. The annual tradition of many hunters and long range shooters was about to be put on its head. Instead of spen

ding the day at a range slowly adjusting a rifle’s point of aim and accuracy, one shot and one adjustment at a time, the new system; the BAK Bore Alignment Kit, adapted from a 1st generation sound activated laser trainer that fit in the end of the barrel. The innovative laser system allowed the user to quickly align the bore without wasting ammunition or targets. The added benefit was that the laser alignment system was less expensive than a day spent at the range and the ammunition usually required to boresight a scope. The kit was approximately $50 and in the first year, LaserLyte® sold about 1,000 units.

It took a few years for the laser concept to really catch on, but once it did, there was no looking back. Lasers had become a viable tool in the firearms industry. Several years later, Larry merged with Lyte Optronics and the LaserLyte® that we all know of today was born. Aaron Moore soon joined his father and brought more than new, young blood to the company.

Aaron and Larry Moore of LaserLyte

Aaron and Larry Moore of LaserLyte

With Aaron’s expertise in international business, marketing and sales, the company was continually expanding the laser product line and engaging a whole new generation of target shooters and concealed carry citizens.

The LaserLyte® family of bore sights continues to grow, offering customers a variety of options including the Mini Laser Bore Sight MBS-1, a patented, sleek, high-precision red laser module that fits any .22 to .50 caliber firearm (with a 3-inch barrel required) and zeroes in the scope or iron sights to within 3 to 4-inches of the bullseye at up to 100-yards in about 3 shots. For smaller caliber firearms, the LaserLyte® Mini Laser Bore Sight MBS-1722 works with any firearm from .17 to .22 including the popular .17 HMR caliber round. The MBS Accessory Pack MBS-Pak combines all the tools into one polymer case for sighting in any firearm; handgun, rifle and shotgun. The MBS-Pak includes a scope/gun leveler, 12 393-batteries, 12-20 gauge shotgun adapter, a .51-.75 caliber bore adapter, a .22-.50 caliber tool kit and a daylight target.

LaserLyte® also developed the ingenious cartridge bore tool that allows the user to slide the laser bore tool inside the firearm chamber and when the bolt is closed the laser automatically activates. The cartridge bore tools include the LAS-17H, .17 HRM cartridge bore tool, and the Kryptonyte .50 BMG cartridge bore took (K-50) that utilizes an exclusive daylight visible green laser; 100 times more visible to the human eye than traditional red lasers. All of LaserLyte’s laser bore sight systems were conceived to save the user money, time and ammunition and that philosophy has not changed over a quarter of a century.

Twenty-five years and LaserLyte® continues to grow. With a new, larger facility, more R&D, the dedicated team will continue to lead LaserLyte® into the next 25-years of laser possibilities.
